anyone know if the online schools are worth it?

By , July 5, 2010

i want to study to be an electrician, online schools seem like a good option as far as price and working with my schedule, but they’ve always looked a little sketchy to me, has anybody graduated from them? do they have merit amongst employers? any opinion would help.. thanx!

  1. Nicole says:

They do, if they are accredited. Also experience in internships, apprenticeships, and experience overall are more important when you do not go to a traditional college.

For profit ones are not. Ones affiliated with an accredited non-profit school usually are.

like nicole says, only when they have accreditation(by the right accreditation).
after you get your first job as an electrician and have build up your resume, no one will look or pay attention to where you got your education.

I will say however to avoid online schools or those type of trade schools. Generally speaking its the easy way out, and employers know this.

You can easily compare info about these schools in this site – colleges.mywebcommunity.org
