Stimulus package jobs cost us approximately ,229,055.69 each. Was that some kind of bargain?
I came to this number by dividing 7,000,000,000.00 stimulus money divided by 640329 jobs (saved or created) (THIS IS THE NUMBER THE ADMINISTRATION HAS COME OUT WITH, WHICH BY THE WAY IS TOTALLY BOGUS, BUT LETS JUST ASSUME ITS CORRECT). This equals ,229,055.69 Dollars per Job for one year.
That doesn’t sound like a bargain to me, especially as I begin to pay for it in inflation AND taxes.

The biggest Mistake Obama and the Democratic Congress made with the so called stimulus package was they put most of the money into government job creation. The problem with that is that those jobs are short term jobs that will never pay for themselves. If you are going to spend money creating jobs you are much better off create private sector jobs. These jobs are typically jobs that produce goods and services people need and want, as long as you don’t use the stimulus money for things that people don’t want like solar heating for example.

How many jobs could you create with almost a trillion dollars?

This is what I would have done with the money. I would have fixed the power grid! Then I would use the money to bribe democratic politicians and environmentalist to clear the way for private industry to drill for oil, in Alaska, in the Gulf, and off of California. I would streamline the process for building 50 new Nuclear power-plans. I would also allow clean coal production, just bribe more environmentalist. I would also investigate Algore and George Soros for fraud political corruption.
Chinabli and Scott. LMAO.. Tax cuts don’t create jobs! What a joke of a statement that is. You know what would have cost the same amount of money and would have saved millions and millions of jobs! A Federal Tax holiday for 9 months of 2009. It would have cost about 0.8 Trillion, and it would have worked.

I have no respect for independence if you mean by that moderate. Moderates just haven’t spend the time to study an issue longer enough to figure out where they stand on the issues. As for only less than half of the money has been spent and we have lost millions of jobs and destroyed the economy, I hope we don’t spend the other half. The administration has announced that the stimulus has done its job and don’t expect much more out of. I hope they are right this time, we can take any more stimulus like this.
If I took all the money and used it for myself, I would buy some homes, a few businesses, an investment advisor or 10 of them. I think I could create more jobs on my own than Obama did with the entire US economy at his finger tips.
Bobbi, you are Obama lite. You look a better and less filling but your idea still sucks. These are not real jobs. These are jobs that can not be maintained without tax subsides forever. Solar power is not cost effective. Cash for clunkers was a rip and it created more CO2 than it saved if you are into that sort of thing. Nuclear is the only way to go.

If all homeowners, invested in grid tied solar, they would have a relatively no maintenance power plan on their roof, that pays back faster in better climates, but would produce consistent power and when paid off, Free power. The deal is when the sun is shining, an you are at work, kids at school, the power company buys your excess power, at night and bad weather they support you. When people like this idea as much as say owning a boat, that paid future sizable dividends, this could be the next .com boom for the economy and we wouldn’t need Nukes. Oil will not be replaced overnight but we can be proactive to reduce our dependence on oil. As people buy into owning Solar PV, it will stimulate the economy with jobs. Peace oriented high-tech jobs. For manufacturers, installers, hardware manufacturers, advertising, etc. Make renewable Energy Not War. How many new jobs has Oil created lately and how much have they cost US in subsidies. How many new jobs have defense contractors created lately, and how many have died to keep their stock prices up? Solar PV is an excellent investment and considered an 18% return. It sits on your roof like a small car would do in your garage, is warranted for 25 years, connected to the grip for backup power and the power company buys your power. Someday soon you will own some sort of solar electric, solar hot water, small wind turbine on your garage roof, and plug in Hydro car. Oil companies don’t want you to do this. For obvious reasons. You may want to rethink solar and get some local estimates. The Naysayers are parroting Oil and Nuclear propaganda coming from GE and Exxon-Mobile and BP none of whom pay USA income tax.
