How do I be come an electrician?
Look in your area paper and the unemployment office some employers offer free training if you work for them when you finish training they pay for everything you need.. The field you are wanting is one that a lot of employers need.
There isn’t a simple answer to your question. You can go thru a union apprenticeship or learn your trade thru an independent electrical contractor.
Some states may require schooling before you can take your Journeyman or Master’s exam, and other states may not even require a license.
So it really depends on your location and approach to learning your trade.

When i was at school i was told i needed a good grounding in Physics to become an Electrician , worst advice i evr got , left school got an apprentiship and spent i day a week at collage (worked the rest) for three years (you can do the course in 6 months if you go constantly but if you have no practical experiance when you become qualified you’ll be less than useless to anyone
ive been an Electrician for now 20 years and self employed for 14 , best thing i ever did ……… But dont worry too much about school , do the best you can and get the best grades you can , but dont worry too much , try your hardest to get in with a small local electrical company and get an apprentiship with them , they will train you up in the practical stuff and you’ll get all the tech stuff from collage.
A small company is always the best , you’ll get to do everything from wiring houses to call outs to repairs and breakdowns at big factories , its fantastic training for when you decide to go it alone , then you really start making money :0)
Im in the UK and the hardest part of the training was learning the regulations , the rest is a easy i promise
Im biased but its a fantastic trade to be in , and you’ll always be busy
Electrician is a very good trade. Electricians are still in good demand in most of the US, and the pay is good once you’re done with your apprenticeship.
Your first place to check is your local electrician’s union. Often, they have apprenticeship and training programs through them, which in some cases, are either inexpensive or even free. The issue with these programs is that they only have a few spaces each year, and so if you don’t get in…
Your second place to look is your local community colleges. Many of them offer training programs for trades like electrician, and ccs are relatively inexpensive and are of good quality.
Your third place to check is your local trade schools. Those will be your most expensive option, and you also want to be sure that the school is respected and of good quality – there are a lot of bad trade schools out there. In fact, you can ask the union which trade schools they recommend. That may help you weed out the good ones.
try your local union hall ?
