How much extra would you pay on your electricity bill for green energy?

By , August 6, 2010

All it would take is about -20 a month for 10 years 50% of energy could be produced from clean sources like wind and solar. But human behavior can be persuaded through rules. One of our government’s innovations is compliance standards. Check it out.

    great

  2. Cake Good says:

I’d be THRILLED and delighted to pay that additional $10-$20 a month for cleaner energy.

  3. Dr.T says:

    Zip, zero, nada.

  4. Mike says:

Best green energy policy is to use less. This way you pay less and consume less.

  5. Will work for Cash says:

It wouldn’t matter, they will charge whatever they can and we can’t do anything about it. Now, get to work and buy my health insurance.

  6. Shovel Ready says:

The costs of wind and solar energy are astronomical. Don’t be fooled by fraudulent claims made by liberals and so-called scientists. These two sources of energy, for example, are not reliable, so it is necessary to have complete backup generation systems ready to go whenever the wind isn’t blowing or the sun isn’t shining.

  7. Liddel says:

    None, but thanks.

    Nothing, not one dime.

No, I have my energy from nuclear power. Thats clean and I
    don’t have to pay extra.
I also don’t like my birds and bats being sliced and diced.

  10. Muhammad The Atheist says:

I believe we humans should drop the use of oil and start using and developing the nuclear energy, and this comes from a Saudi(who’s country is dependent on selling oil for it’s economy)

  11. Cptainamer says:

If it’s so efficient and pollution free why does it have to cost more ????? Could this possibly be the biggest Ponzi Scheme of all ?

  12. Peace through blinding force says:

According to Obama, $10-20 a month won’t even make a dent. He says your costs would “necessarily skyrocket.”

At least you’re honest and open about your desire for government to use FORCE to control its property (you) but us humans see ourselves as our OWN property, thank you.

  13. Uncle Joe Stalin says:

    None

  14. grandma zaza says:

That’s an average and it’s a government site for crying out loud!

  15. MikeGolf says:

You need to lok deeper at the numbers.

Besides – you are talking about a 10-20% increase in energy costs. This translates into a similar increase in costs for businesses. Thses costs will have to be passed on to the consumer – which means 1970′s style ‘stagflation.’

Another issue is that althenative energy has a perfect 100% track record of failure in terms of producing energy at a cost the consumer can afford. How much money are you willing to bet on the assumption that history will not repeat itself?

  16. Stereotypemebecauseyouknow says:

Why do Liberals believe politicians? They have been telling you all kinds of bull for your entire life, and never have they been correct. Look at the estimates for Health care costs after all those promises, and ask yourself why they excluded the lawyers. Follow the money.

Nothing! Let Al “Mr. Green” Gore, make his own house green first. He uses as much power in one month as the average person uses in a year. George Bush’s Texas ranch was actually green. But Al Gore uses “carbon offsets” that he buys from himself to offset his footprint. Ted Kennedy was all for green energy until it would effect his view of the beach, then he led the movement to kill the windmill project. Why is it that all these “green” people are the worst offenders? If people were actually willing to spend extra money on “green” products, there are plenty on the market now, and guess what, people don’t buy them because of the much higher price. Green products are nothing more then a marketing ploy for companies to make higher profits and for a few people to feel “superior” to the rest because they buy recycled paper towels.

  18. Think Outside the Ballot Box says:

I did it for a while (100% solar/wind) and it cost me nearly $200 a month to power a two bedroom apartment and we don’t even own a washer/dryer or use the heater during the winter. Buying renewable through a company instead of making it yourself is wayyyyyy too expensive.

  19. 0bama Calls ME at 3AM says:

If you really supported green energy, T Boone Pickens wouldn’t be trying to find a place to erect all those wind generators he bought.

  20. HammerNH says:

Like all “statistics” presented by marxists, this is more blatant hypocrisy.
Nobody has ANY IDEA just how vastly more expensive so-called ‘green’ energy would be – except truly ‘green’ NUCLEAR power.
But the lefties oppose the only real ‘green’ alternative for windmills (noisy AND kill lots of little birds) and solar (because the sun is always shining in MAObama land).

Consider this when you hear Marxist ‘statistics:
In 1966, congressional estimate of annual cost of Medicare by 1990: $12 billion
Actual annual cost of Medicare in 1990: $112 billion

  21. James L says:

Texas produces more green energy than any other state, roughly 10% of our total power usage, and it is one of the least regulated states in the union. We are doing it because it is profitable. Get your head out of regulations and into some supply and demand economics. You can make this work without stripping away freedom of choice.

And compliance.gov sounds like the most totalitarian web site I’ve ever heard of. Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.

  22. Moody Red, American Patriot, says:

Not a darn thing since Europe is turning back to nuclear energy. Check out France, and Germany and how their relationship with wind power was a complete and utter failure since 2002 . (Wind can only be counted on 30% of the time, and the solar energy is not hat great either). Energy costs became prohibitive, and they have opted to go back to nuclear power. More and more Europe is seeing the light.

So instead of being a leader in the world, the U.S. is now following failed European policies. Great, eh?

Have you ever thought what thisa would do to the middle class and the poor?

Where is that liberal heart I keep hearing about?

    MR

This green initiative is incredibly stupid. All it does is make guys like Gore rich. I don’t think it is worth anything. Forget extra.
