I think that is an excellent idea, but do you mind if I float one of my own passed you? Why not use hamsters on treadmills, to generate power? The little buggers don't eat that much, and besides that, the children would find them cute. It would also open up a huge hamster raising industry, and thus provide jobs for the millions of students that would otherwise not find employment from the continual job outsourcing taking place.

It's probably a good idea, but it would depend a lot on exactly where the school is located. It's complicated because there are a lot of money issues, like, in some places, the State would actually give the school money for doing this. So, no one can say if it's a good idea for your school unless they know exactly where you're located, and a bunch of other stuff.
Why don't you suggest to your principal that they talk to a local solar energy company about doing this? The company can tell the principal how much it would cost and how much money the school could get. The company won't charge the school for just talking to them.
