You are to be congratulated for choosing a trade if you don’t want to attend college.

I have several friends who work as mechanics. Two of them own their own shop so obviously they’ve had to invest in tools. Another works for a car dealership (Ford) and his tools are furnished. I would suggest calling some of the garages and dealership service departments in your area and asking them.

My youngest son is a plumber and he is furnished a company truck as well as all major tools. He has invested in what he calls “hand tools” which I believe were several hundred dollars but not thousands. As for math, he was always good at math but I believe basic math would probably do you well.

As for the easiest of the 4 careers, I don’t know. I can tell you that my son says with tongue in cheek “all you have to know to be a plumber is that sh*t doesn’t run uphill and payday is on Friday.” He worked his way up from a plumber’s helper and now is a superintendent for the largest plumbing company in Houston, Texas.

    Good luck to you.
