Now that I have obtained my electrician certificate, what jobs can I apply for?

I’m 18 years old, coming straight out of High School, and I want a job in the electric field. I signed up for an a apprenticeship program but they are not giving me much information as far as their program goes. As of right now I am not doing anything at all, they called me so I thought the apprenticeship was a sure thing, but it does not seem that way. I just need something to do I am getting tired of staying at home all day. On top of that I’m broke so I really need to do something QUICK!!!

Does the Uniform Plumbing Code apply to a school facility not attached to the building.?

Would the Uniform Plumbing Code apply to the weight lifting room outside of my school. (ohio) i am mainly addressing section 413.3 because there is onlyy a men’s restroom and women have to leave and use a seperate bathroom in a seperate building. i dont believe this to be legal.

I enjoy computer gadgets like smart phones, ipods, computers etc. I would like to be part of the team that helps to design these devices, so i guess that would fall under a hardware design job title? also whats a good company to start at after college for this type of thing? i have found out that it is extremely hard to get hired at places like apple, microsoft, etc. all the jobs i have seen have been related to the oil industry which im not interested in. where should i look?

Can an IBEW electrician help get me in the union so I don’t have to apply for the apprenticeship?

My background: I have 2 ½ years (taking classes part time) until completion of my comp-sci degree. I have been an electronic technician for six where I have written some LabVIEW code to control test equipment. I have written a small Assembly language program to control a PIC processor. I am very comfortable with basic loop/control/function theory. I have some experience from my college classes in C, Pascal and Assembly but no real world experience like I do with LabVIEW.

Would it be out of line to try to get a job writing software before finishing the degree with the agreement that I would finish in order to “keep” the job?

If I managed to get a job before completing the degree, would I be hopelessly lost without the remaining programming classes that the last year gives you?

How much on the job time do they give you to learn Visual Basic or C++ for example, or do most employees expect you to be absolutely fluent when starting especially as a new grad?
