I’m a 30 something looking for a career change.. I’m a computer professional but I CANNOT take sitting behind a computer anymore. I’m burnt. I was looking for a career change where I can 1. get away from sitting behind a desk 2. eventually be independent and own my own business.

I was looking at becoming an electrician.. It sound very interesting to me, I like the fact I will be more active.

Any advice on jumpstarting a career? I’m going to study before I even attempt it but I do want the fast track. How do you become ‘certified’? What is the name of the organization that will certify you? Any advice? Are older guys good candidates?

Im a 23 year old male , thinking of a career change as a Linesman, Im currently working as a Junior Draftsman at a Electrical Power Industry and really bored with the job working in a office 40 hours a week.

I have already done a pre-trade course before on becoming a Electrician, but never got an apprenticeship and took up this job is a Juniour Draughtsman, I have done some work experience before on wiring houses but only lasted 2 months.

I was wondering what my chances are on getting a Linesman job? is it on demand?. is my age to old?. Im really keen and hardworking and really want a job i can take anywhere and a trade for life.

I was wondering if there are careers in fixing up and selling houses. I am currently in school for being an electrician and my brother is a carpenter. My goal would be to move to california putting money down on a not so nice house and fixing them up putting money into it and selling for a profit. Is this a career? and if so how would i go about doing this. Would there be any schooling needed.

what are the requirements for being a gun or knife smith.
how much does it pay.
do they offer apprentice programs for any of these?
is it possible to work for free for any one of them to start learing the trade?
