Looking to change electricity supplier in the UK.?

I’ve just moved into a new flat, ex council stock, and it has a power card meter in it. It is prohibitively expensive, and an utter pain to get cards for the things, so I’m looking to change supplier and payment meter.
Does anyone know where is best to go to get decent ‘green’ electricity. My wee boy has convinced me to go for a company which doesn’t destroy the planet (pester power works even when changing pwoer supplier).

Electrician as a career change? Certification?

I’m a 30 something looking for a career change.. I’m a computer professional but I CANNOT take sitting behind a computer anymore. I’m burnt. I was looking for a career change where I can 1. get away from sitting behind a desk 2. eventually be independent and own my own business.

I was looking at becoming an electrician.. It sound very interesting to me, I like the fact I will be more active.

Any advice on jumpstarting a career? I’m going to study before I even attempt it but I do want the fast track. How do you become ‘certified’? What is the name of the organization that will certify you? Any advice? Are older guys good candidates?

I have 27 yrs exp as an electrician. Going to school for IT. Almost have my AA, 12 credits shy but still pursuing a BA or even higher.

I half to change my 3 prong dryer cord to a 4 prong where does the green grounding wire go,,?

I recently joined the DEP and I’m shipping out on Nov. 25 and I chose the EM (electricians mate) rating. I wanted the IT rating and I did qualify for it but since my mom is a permanent resident I couldn’t get it because of the security clearances. I was wondering if I could change my rate before a ship out and if I can’t, is the EM rating bad?
all my close family members are citizens except my mom

I’m currently an elementary school teacher but I’m finding that there is so much political BS that goes along with it. I just can’t take it! It’s only my third year teaching but I just don’ feel like education is moving in the right direction. They don’t want teachers to teach, they want us to make sure they all get tested and they don’t want any children left behind. I’m sorry but that’s the way the world works! People get left behind! We can’t all make 6 figure salaries. Some people have to do the other jobs. I’m just saying not all kids are going to be doctors or lawyers. Some will be mechanics and electricians and that is OKAY! We need all types of people educated for all types of jobs! We should train those kids and put them on the right path! I just think education needs to actually educate all kids not just shot straight down the middle.

Carreer Change – how to re-train?

My partner is 26 and would like to re-train in a profession such as electrician / plumber.

Does anyone know how to go about this? as he is too old to do an apprentice, it would need to be something he could work round his current job as bills have to be paid!

Is there a way of doing voluntary work as weekends to gain experience to get into it that way?

What Would It Take To Change Your Mind On Global Warming?

What REAL harm is there taking steps to reduce or completely eliminate our “possible” contributions? Do you think making the applicable changes will impact our economy as … Humm… Your or other U.S citizens high paying blue and white collar jobs being shipped overseas?
Unless you are really rich, you losing your job will have a real negative impact on you family. I would say more so than the polluters being required to reduce their emissions.
Would you have that same opinion if instead of our government subsidizing petroleum & power producers they subsidized wind power, solar and wave turbines? Enough of them in place and you still have your lights, heat and water. The only difference being other than during the manufacturing process, the alternatives did not emit any pollutants.
Let’s take that to the next level. You were given direct tax credits for implementing any or all the above alternatives on your home and you could sell the access to the “GRID” at retail prices?
