I am helping a friend build a large addition to the back of their mobile home.
We need to wire it for use as a secondary living area, including a 2nd kitchen.

The mobile home itself has a 100A subpanel inside that does not have any empty spaces for more breakers.

Our plan is to come off the main disconnect panel on the pole with a 2nd 100A breaker identical to the one going into the mobile home, the main/disconnect on the pole has a large 200A breaker and several slots for smaller breakers.
We will be using the proper wiring size and routing the wires through conduit and proper holes/slots according to code.
We will then have the wiring running into a 100A breaker box inside the addition.

We will be getting a permit and having the work inspected.
My friend lives in an area that does not have any restrictions on the type of addition we are building and does allow home-owner self wiring.

My question is does anyone with electrical knowledge or experience see any flaws in our plan?
I don’t wish to have any hassle or extra expense from the inspector.

Thanks in advance.
I am reluctant to upgrade the entire home to a 200A 40 panel box due to having to do a lot of remodeling of the wall the original panel is in and the logistics of running all of the circuits through the metal wall or under the floor from the mobile home to the addition.

Also the power would have to be cut to the entire home during the upgrade process.

That is why I am asking about a 2nd 100A subpanel.

I asked that question because i was seeking home owners insurance with another company and they asked me that question. My electrical outlets in the house are 3 prong and when I looked in the panel box on the switches I saw that it said 120/240v I am not sure if that is what I should be looking at as far how much amps of power is coming in. I just wanted to know how what answer i would give the insurance agent as to what type of wiring was in the home. I may just call an electrician. Thanks for all the answers thus far.

Home Inspection brought up some defects in the electrical section and I am a little concerned about how the deck is built on. Should I be worried about the electrical or deck and what do you think the cost would be to make these repairs? The notes the inspector made are:

We find no main breaker in the main electrical panel box. It may or may not be required of this
house to have a single main breaker. It is considered modern standard practice to be able to turn off the
electric to the whole house with 6 or fewer throws of a switch. It is advisable to confirm with a specialist if
the main overcurrent configuration is adequate for this house.

There is one circuit breakers in the main panel which are serving more than one circuit wire. Most
breakers are designed to accommodate only one wire. Introducing a second wire into the connection may
interfere with one or both circuits creating an increased chance of arcing and overheating. This is a safety
hazard and it is advisable to consult with a licensed specialist to discuss options for proper overcurrent
protection.

The at least three receptacles at the downstairs are mis-wired. The nature of the defect is not
identifiable with the circuit testing device we use. It is advisable to treat any type of mis-wiring as needing of
attention by a licensed specialist.

The GFCI outlet at the hall bath is a non-grounded outlet (as marked “OG” for open
ground). This is considered a functional circuit interrupter, however, it should be labeled a non-grounded
GFCI and it is not as safe as a grounded GFCI.
