I have 100+ service hours and I play soccer and baseball. I don’t know if this helps but I go to a well known private school in Southern California. So basically I want to know If I have any chances of getting into Cal Poly Pomona/SLO, if not I would appreciate it if you could recommend some colleges that would most likely accept me.

Basically I have been trying to get a career in the electronics industry for about 8 years now. I started out Doing electrical engineering at university and failed the maths subjects a few times and got removed from the degree. After the first failures I spent about 00 on private tuition, exam techniques and maths courses and always did alright in math based assignments but always failed exams horribly.

So after some professional advice I was convinced that I was not suited to Engineering and tried to pursue a career as an electrician but it was hard to get an apprenticeship without doing a course in it first. I registered for the course and attempted the suitability test 3 times and got letters back each time saying that I was not suitable for the course.

After a 4 -5 years working in various types of jobs in the private sector and government trying my hand at other stuff I find myself very unsatisfied with my job and really want a career in electronics. I did as much revision for the suitability test as I possibly could and attempted it again a few months ago and got a letter telling my score was not high enough again to be considered for the certificate in electro-technology.

I consider myself quite skilled in some area’s of electronics such as soldering I have modded a lot consoles and repaired them as well.

So my question stands I really want to be an engineer or at least a sparky is there any other ways to get into this industry preferably without exams or tests?

Im a single mother. I have a small 4 month old baby. Right now Im on Ontario Works. There is a pre-apprenticeship program for electrician I would like to take. Due to lack of opportunities in my initial career choice I decided to become an electrician. I was wondering if anybody with experience in the trade had any useful advice on how to break in to the Electrical trade. I recently missed out on getting an apprenticeship as an electrician for my local council at the very last stage.

I am about to start the City and Guilds 2330 Certificate at level 2 next month and I’ve tried to get information on things like what qualifications you need, how to make the step from college to actually working in the trade, but I haven’t found anything useful (or straight-forward) to be honest.

Do you have to work as an electrician’s mate for a while before you can become an electrician? If so do you need any qualifications to be an electrician’s mate? And what are the required qualifications to become an electrician? Are there any other ways to break in to the trade?

I’m interested in video games, sports, and learning cool things that I can use in the future. I was thinking about becoming an electrician like my dad he gets paid OK and works for the mines. What I like is that electricians can work anywhere that involves electronics. But I want to make good money with computers because I think that computers are totally the future now and further on. But I want to make easy money say with an online game that I can create and charge people to play. What are some classes in high school and college that I can take to get to these skills.
