I think the government should spend more money on construction, schools, & the military.

Isn’t this against the unions?

The day’s news may soon rest in the hands — and quite possibly on the feet — of newscasters at WTTG, Channel 5, in Washington.

In a bid to save money, the station is planning to reassign the technicians who operate the electronic prompters that feed scripted news copy to the anchors while they’re on the air. Instead, the station wants its anchors to do the job themselves.

why isn’t the government helping out vocational high school kids who are having a tough time finding jobs?

We’ve elevated the importance of “higher education” to such a lofty perch that all other forms of knowledge are now labeled “alternative.” Millions of parents and kids see apprenticeships and on-the-job-training opportunities as “vocational consolation prizes,” best suited for those not cut out for a four-year degree. And still, we talk about millions of “shovel ready” jobs for a society that doesn’t encourage people to pick up a shovel.

In a hundred different ways, we have slowly marginalized an entire category of critical professions, reshaping our expectations of a “good job” into something that no longer looks like work. A few years from now, an hour with a good plumber a if you can find one â“ is going to cost more than an hour with a good psychiatrist. At which point we’ll all be in need of both.”"

Speaking from personal experience.I don’t understand the push for everybody to go to college. There are other types of education that are equally worthwhile pursuing. I hate the fact straight out of HS two years ago, that is my field I studied for 3 1/2 in HS (graphic communications) is literally dying.(printing press jobs are no where to find.) my friend dropped out of high school, became a trainee electrician after doing some government course, and by 19 was working in Sweden making huge money. I know my medical science degree will pan out, but a buddy of mine(mike) is stuck working at a grocery store because education is very hard for him to concept but his trade skills are off the chain.

Why isn’t the government trying to help kids like me find jobs?

it’s been two weeks since I have been laid off. I have applied to like 30 different places. I’m an electronic technician with not much experience, but there still should be opportunities despite it being a recession or whatever

Is this a questionable deal Mexico will sell power to Los Angeles isn’t La getting bailout money to create jobs not export them ?MEXICALI, Mexico, Feb. 6 (UPI) — Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission signed an agreement with Los Angeles to allow Mexico’s state-owned power company to sell electricity to the U.S. city.
Electricity will be generated at Mexico’s Cerro Prieto geothermal power plant in Mexicali and then sold to the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, according to the memorandum of understanding signed by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission Chief Alfredo Elias Ayub.
How much power will be generated and sold was not disclosed.
