What do I need to know about portable generators?

I am not an electrician, but there are a variety of portable generators availible and I don’t know heads from tails about them. Can anyone explain to me, with the heart of a teacher, about watts, amps, etc.. Why do they rate them at a 50% draw? How do I know what kind of draw I am going to pull when I am running lighting, a circular saw, a refrigerator and a washing machine for example – if I were to get one with 4 120 outlets. What’s with the amps on the breakers?

Hi, So I have a list of data, and i would like an easy way to deliminate each line. right now it is set up like this:

+Part 1 General
1.1 SECTION INCLUDES
-1. Door release panel.
-2. Transformers.
-3. Magnets.
-4. Switches.
-5. Pushbuttons.
-6. Power supplies.
-7. Electrical supervision circuits.
-8. Wiring.
-9. Card readers.

so as you there are new lines everywhere….and each time there is a new line, I would like to be able to say “this item is different from the rest”…so in the end, I get like 1000 string or so (there is about 1000 lines)…

so ya know, I will build a string character by Character, until i get to the end of the line, that is one string then….reapeat.

ie.

do(str = str+currentChar)
until(currentChar = “\n”)

…thats what i thought but it didnt work…

This data comes from notepad… (so the whole mess is one BIG string)…and I am just trying to figure out how to deliminate each new line. and it wont work to deliminate by periods (.) because there are some lines with periods in the middle >.<

any ideas?
thanks, I actually figured it out…for some reason i needed to use “\r\n”….not sure why.

doing it in C# it looks like this:

string[] words = Regex.Split(data, “\r\n”);

for (int i = 0; i < words.Length; i++)
{
display.AppendText(words[i] + “\n\n”);//just a test to see if it works
}

What’s a typical day like? Is the job boring or is it interesting? How much do they get paid? What are their salaries?

I have home phone service with AT&T and I would like to know to how can I get an extended line for a relative?

I want to get telephone service for my sister because she has school age children and a child away at college. She is a homemaker and her husband is a carpenter Their mortgage is 0.00 a month not including lights, gas, water, sewer, plus other necessities. They already had one of those other phone companies that let them down. Now they have to buy minutes on an old-fashioned cellular phone. Please tell me what I can do to get them a phone extended off my line and phone service right away?

what do you know about electrical engineering? difficulty, enjoyment, pay, should i do it? ect.?

I live in Schaumburg, illinois. I have a friend of mine needs one too. Shortage in the wall outlets, may be rewiring so we can plug something in the walls in order to have electricity in some rooms.
