Im 22 years old and my CD’s have reached maturity and I am trying to determine what to do next. I am an electrician in the steel indusrty and my salary is about 0,000. I still live with my parents (but don’t give me any grief about that because I help them out both financialy and with responsibilities). I now have ,000 in liquid cash and it is all in a low-interest savings account for now. I have no car loans and I just payed off the last of my student loans.

My ultimate goal is to invest in rental properties as well as purchase my own home within the next 3 years.

My plan was to just put all of it back into CDs that are about 4-4.5% but now I am thinking that if I invest in the stock market at the right time I can make alot more money than that. I was also thinking that I may be a very good time to buy a rental property with the housing market the way it is today. All of this has got me concerned about tieing all of money up for the next 12-18 months in CD’s.

I was thinking that I could invest a maximum of ,000 into the stock market and even if I lose it I would be extreamly pissed off but it wouldn’t seriously delay my goals from being a reality. MY stock market philosophy would be that I want to take somewhat of a risk. I was thinking of purchasing ArcelorMittal(mt) stock. Is that a reasonable choice? When it says the mt stock is at 31.xx does that mean that would be the price of a single share? If thats the case I was thinking of buying 100 shares of that and diversifing the rest of my 10K.

What do you guys think? I would really appriciate any suggestions as I am from a lower-middle class family and dont really have anyone to go to for advice.

thank you,
JD
