I’d highly suggest looking in your local Yellow PAges and finding your IBEW local. I’m not sure of the length of apprenticeship there, but it’s only four years in Virginia and when you’re done you’re making almost $24.00 an hour, with free health and vision insurance, plus a retirement program. If you’re not inclined to unions, there are plenty of non-union shops who will train and employ you as an electrician. I do know that you recieve a degree if you go the union route. I suggest checking your local community colleges for a two year electrical engineering degree as well.

I think you need to be an apprentice to a journeyman. On the job training really, or get into a Union.
