    Thinking of the stuff used in stages and homes and assuming you mean for semi-permanent wiring, the solid wire used for house wiring with fairly thin insulation would not be used in a studio where the stiffness would get in the way and result in stress breakage from constant shifting and bending – all the wiring would be done with stranded flexible cabling with fairly thick insulation.
