What Would It Take To Change Your Mind On Global Warming?
What REAL harm is there taking steps to reduce or completely eliminate our “possible” contributions? Do you think making the applicable changes will impact our economy as … Humm… Your or other U.S citizens high paying blue and white collar jobs being shipped overseas?
Unless you are really rich, you losing your job will have a real negative impact on you family. I would say more so than the polluters being required to reduce their emissions.
Would you have that same opinion if instead of our government subsidizing petroleum & power producers they subsidized wind power, solar and wave turbines? Enough of them in place and you still have your lights, heat and water. The only difference being other than during the manufacturing process, the alternatives did not emit any pollutants.
Let’s take that to the next level. You were given direct tax credits for implementing any or all the above alternatives on your home and you could sell the access to the “GRID” at retail prices?
You opened a can of worms here. There will always be people who won’t believe anything until it hits them on the head. These same people will be the first in line to cry for help also. They will also step on anyone who may get in their way to get that help.
Even if this planet wasn’t having a global warming proble it would still be the right thing to do to keep our home clean & safe.
You are either part of the problem or part of the solution.
Here lies the problem. You ask the question as it pertains to global warming. There is no definitive proof that man has caused global warming.
Very few would disagree or ridicule you if you ask the question as it pertains to pollution. Most people would like to see pollution eliminated. Pollution should be eliminated because it is the right thing to do and not because we are intimidated.
There is another problem with your question. Installing wind and wave turbines have been tried but many people complain that they impede their view of their surroundings. This technology has been fought against (in the courts and won) by the very people complaining about pollution but unfortunately many will not compromise. This leaves no place for this technology. It is a shame that we are not allowed to use this technology because someone might not get the perfect view of a mountain or the ocean.
Some _real_ science would be a start, but listening to a movie (even one created by an accomplished scam artist) like it was truth…no way.
It would seem that you are indeed ‘walking the walk’. Just to make you aware of some of the pollutants involved with the manufacture of solar cells:
The manufacture of III-V photovoltaic cells involves
hazards primarily associated with the raw materials used.
The MOVPE process, particularly, utilizes metal-alkyl
materials, such as trimethyl gallium, trimethyl aluminum,
and trimethyl indium, or their triethyl derivatives. These
precursors are pyrophoric liquids at ambient temperature,
and storing and handling them are significant issues.
MOVPE also uses hydride gases to lay down major
constituents of the layers (arsine, and phosphine), and for
dopants (hydrogen selenide, hydrazine, ammonia, dimethylhydrazine, silane, or disilane). These gases are toxic, flammable, or both. During processing, these gases may be accidentally released…**
Note that this paper does not address the energy costs in the manufacture of this product.
if pirates were endangered, i’d start to worry about global warming
OK, real science.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Clima…http://www.ipcc.ch/SPM2feb07.pdfhttp://www.realclimate.orghttp://scrippsco2.ucsd.edu/graphics_gall…http://www.ucar.edu/news/features/climat…http://www.royalsoc.ac.uk/page.asp?id=12…
Science doesn’t get any realer than that. Which is why the vast majority of scientists believe global warming is real and caused by us.http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/fu…
Hey, nobody’s stopping you from saving the planet. Turn off your computer, it’s consuming power. Better yet disconnect all utilities, stop riding in cars, stop eating farmed food and stop using manufactured goods.
You talk the talk very well. Now, how about walking the walk? Show us how it’s done.
Incidentally, most of the alternative energy projects have been subsidized by the government.
What harm? I don’t know how about global Marxist movement’s takeover of the environmental movement to begin with?

Media Shows Irrational Hysteria on Global Warming
“The Public Has Been Vastly Misinformed,” NCPA’s Deming Tells Senate Committee

WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 /U.S. Newswire/ — David Deming, an associate professor at the University of Oklahoma and an adjunct scholar with the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA), testified this morning at a special hearing of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. The hearing examined climate change and the media. Bellow are excerpts from his prepared remarks.
“In 1995, I published a short paper in the academic journal Science. In that study, I reviewed how borehole temperature data recorded a warming of about one degree Celsius in North America over the last 100 to 150 years. The week the article appeared, I was contacted by a reporter for National Public Radio. He offered to interview me, but only if I would state that the warming was due to human activity. When I refused to do so, he hung up on me.
“I had another interesting experience around the time my paper in Science was published. I received an astonishing email from a major researcher in the area of climate change. He said, “We have to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period.” “The Medieval Warm Period (MWP) was a time of unusually warm weather that began around 1000 AD and persisted until a cold period known as the “Little Ice Age” took hold in the 14th century. … The existence of the MWP had been recognized in the scientific literature for decades. But now it was a major embarrassment to those maintaining that the 20th century warming was truly anomalous. It had to be “gotten rid of.”
“In 1999, Michael Mann and his colleagues published a reconstruction of past temperature in which the MWP simply vanished. This unique estimate became known as the “hockey stick,” because of the shape of the temperature graph. “Normally in science, when you have a novel result that appears to overturn previous work, you have to demonstrate why the earlier work was wrong. But the work of Mann and his colleagues was initially accepted uncritically, even though it contradicted the results of more than 100 previous studies. Other researchers have since reaffirmed that the Medieval Warm Period was both warm and global in its extent.
“There is an overwhelming bias today in the media regarding the issue of global warming. In the past two years, this bias has bloomed into an irrational hysteria. Every natural disaster that occurs is now linked with global warming, no matter how tenuous or impossible the connection. As a result, the public has become vastly misinformed.”

You don’t have to convince me on global warming, the part you have to convince of if it is all man made or is it a natural global warming. Man has some influence on global warming but Mother Nature has it part too, in fact Mother Nature plays over 90% in the global warming problem. It is a fact that volcanoes play that role and has caused global warming and freezing for millions of years and has cause quick freezing and warming periods as well as long periods of time. Man plays a very small role in this but many feel that we are the only guilty party. If we closed all the factories and turned off all the vehicles in the world it wouldn’t make a difference to global warming, it is coming and we need to get ready for it so that we can survive.
How about this:
One dollar spent to solve a non-problem like man caused global warming can never be spent on anything else.
maybe waking up to a severed horses head in my bed. that would make me believe just about anything.
When you can show that global warming is a man-made phenomenon AND show that implementations would have a positive effect I would change my mind.
I’m not anticipating those things happening. I know bad science when I see it.
I don’t think doing more to take away “potential” harmful things that I contribute to destroying the environment with is a bad thing. I do have a problem with the government making me do it, while it denies that the same temperature changes that we are experiencing are also occurring on Mars, where no man has had an opportunity to pollute. The government funds NASA. I would hope that it would listen to them.
a Pagan view
unfortunately pirates are not endangered ,there are more than ever ,the same applies to ignorance , stupidity as well as egoistic antisocial behavior.
we have had GREEN PEACE ,and its not working
the time has come for a GREEN WAR
personally i think this planet needs a thorough ethnic cleansing of its enemies .their remains to be used as compost to rescue the lands destroyed by irresponsible agriculture..but in a dignified manner like the Aztecs did.
this would please the gods and take care of overpopulation for a while take the pressure of water shortage, and food production and natural resources would go further arround
ONLY the enemies of Earth would object to this ,so be carefull we will be taking names
because surely the survival of our Habitable Environment which is detremental to our own survival surpasses any other concern for the existance of any individual
o woe is us
on a lighter note
this was my answer on Global warminghttp://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
this was my answer on deforestationhttp://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…

it would take you to stop being gay
global warming is you farting on the earth
