Wow Has Anyone Else Read This Piece On A New Green Technology That Could Literally Power The Entire Planet?
This sounds AMAZING, after reading it do you think this is a real possibility and how many jobs world wide could it create? Since the U.S. Government funded the initial research wouldn’t it strengthen the country economically and as well as make the U.S. the world’s leading energy provider one way or another? What do you all think?
Here’s a quote
The scientists behind the technology, which has been developed in research funded by the US government, say that generating power in this way would potentially cost only around 3.5p per kilowatt hour, compared to about 4.5p for wind energy and between 10p and 31p for solar power. They say the technology would require up to 50 times less ocean acreage than wave power generation.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/energy/…
Also at 3.5 per KWH it’s cheaper according this this table than any other major energy source
I dunno how many jobs it would create but if they could find a way to do it safely on a massive scale that sounds like an excellent idea.
Aren’t you English? 10p? That is the abbreviation for Pence. Americans call the cents With a C.
As for the technology the basic principle is not new. It is the size of the infrastructure that is difficult. Also the interference with natural ecological systems would put this into courts for many years.
Maybe this is Detroit’s answer to the auto and oil industries. The people who live there need jobs, and wouldn’t it be great if the trial run in the Detroit River provided positive results. I’ve heard about the research before, but nothing lately, until your question. I suppose there are some who will file suit over the disruption in the rivers or oceans, but when I lived in Detroit, we weren’t allowed to put our feet into that river. I just hope it isn’t too good to be true!
