Years Ago We Sailed Millions Of Tons With Wind Energy, So Why Can’t We Use Wind & Solar Power?
The world lived at a slower pace back then, but the clipper=ship hull moved quickly, it carried less, so it’s cargo was more in demand and time sensitive. The point is, we moved great weight, and used more hands on equipment. wind generation linked with solar requires more hands on, in as much that it requires constant and frequent maintenance and operational monitoring. Build wind generation plants that double as job opportunity, heck we could build fences around it and use prison inmate labor. Put them out in the wind-swept deserts, or offshore ships, platforms, and islands. How about a dynamo driven off a wound spring and speed governor, the old victrollers worked fine for years, and still work that played our old 78′s Imagine a building sized one, all wound by hand, a real work-out that would all but eliminate obesity of our society. We used to grind cane the same way
There were a heck of a lot fewer people alive in the days of the clipper ships, and people didn’t live as long. Sailboats won’t transport oil, iron ore, phosphate rock, etc, in any kind of meaningful quantity.
The average American has the equivalent of 300 people working for him by using oil and coal. The amount of personal effort thus replaced is REALLY significant. Most people today would have heart attacks if they had to walk, bike, sail, or carry as much as they ordinarily do in their cars.
Most First Worlders would consider such a world as a great step backwards. They will fight it tooth and nail.

i was watching some show like 20-20 and the guy that is like the biggest oil tycoon in the U.S. was visiting a wind farm and he said he believes that wind will be the next big thing. I wish I could remember more about it.
We also were paid 30 cents a day. do you want to live on $2.00 a week?
Also are you ready to fight the NIMBY’s? They don’t want generatiars in their yards, do you?
Because people like convenience. It’s sad the price we all have to pay.
Because ultimately our government is more concerned with keeping the oil companies happy. They have realized that essentially solar and wind power would ultimately be free once efficiently developed since no one could lay claim to the sun or wind. The only money to be made would be made on equipment and that would be a one time deal for each person. And in reply to a previous poster, the minimum wage laws would allow us to make more money and if enough voters demand it then those who didn’t want it near their houses wouldn’t be able to stop it. Although if a smaller, personal unit was developed then you wouldn’t have to worry about that.
